June 1, 2023: Prayers for our Nation

-what “we the people” really means: authority over my person, family, church, and government

Prayers for our Nation:

My Faith Votes asked us to pray not only on the national day of prayer but as much as possible.

“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Life:

Please pray for all men who have suffered the loss of a child through abortion. This is yet another hidden consequence to our society. Extended families all suffer from these regretful choices that create bondage, not freedom.

Economy:

Proverbs 22:7 says, “The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender.”

We are borrowing money to pay the interest on the money we have borrowed. This is fiscal and biblical irresponsibility. Pray that Americans demand an end to overspending.

Elections:

1 Timothy 2:1-2 says, “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.”

We find ourselves in a spiritual tug-of-war between good and evil, just as the Lord said we would be. There is evidence of unrest over many candidates who are throwing their hats in the ring for the large and small positions on the ballot. To some degree, our very freedom is on the line next year. The time is now to pray about who will run, that they would be strong men of God, called by Him to lead. CALL TO PRAYER: Please pray now and in the coming 18 months that those who God wants to run for office will do so and that their path to victory would be unhindered. Pray also that those He does not want to run would find adequate roadblocks to stop them from doing so.

Education:

Matthew 18:6 says, “But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.”

The abbreviation stands for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Although it sounded good when first suggested, it has gone, as Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin says, “off the rails”. It is now a threat to truth and a biblical worldview. And it has infiltrated schools across America. May other states do the same.

Please continue to pray that our children are taught the necessary skills to function as a contributing adult in our society and that they are not indoctrinated into agendas that are unbiblical and destructive.

Religious Freedom:

Isaiah 54:17 says, “No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.”

Please pray for these organizations and all others who are working hard to defend biblical values in our nation. They have done great things to protect our biblical worldview and freedom for all.
