Chapter 2: Psychiatry’s Dangerous Idea
-in 1997, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) a film about a young child who truly believed he was a girl
-this child was a true example of one suffering with gender identity disorder (GID)
-the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) had coined GID
-but instead of discussing the boys delusion the group focused on his victimization in a society with rigid definitions of male and female
-they announced that society must change
**the boy had a disorder not society and should be treated that way but that is not what happened
Gender Identity, Then and Now:
-Money proposed that in identity of either male or female is imposed on a child by society and that by age three it’s permanent
-”Gender identity” = do not match their genitals
-“Gender binary” = male and female, fixed in childhood
-Money’s bogus ideology was exposed as a failure in 1997, but it has just evolved into a whole new concept
The bizarre evolution of gender identity:
Then: Male and female, Now: Limitless possibilities
Then: Imposed on Culture, Now: An inner experience
Then: Fixed at age three, Now: Fluid through life
Then: An academic theory, Now: a turbocharged crusade
Post-Secularism:
-1st wave feminism, queer theory, gender schema theory
-2nd wave feminism, Marxist feminism, anti-essentialism, radical feminism
-3rd wave feminism and radical gender theory
WPATH
-foremost authority on transgender health
-embraced the phony psychological theory
-foundation for a global social justice movement
-current and future victims movement
-young people who are disfigured and sterilized
-shattering their lives and their family’s shattered
-the lies: two-sex options, binary are oppressed
-gender and sex are instruments of power
“The goal is to replace notions of biological sex, the male-female binary, and the nuclear family with “queer alternatives” and “a world beyond binaries.”
-the number of young people identifying as “gender variant” has exploded
This should not be surprised:
-kids have been being indoctrinated with gender ideology since at least the 90’s
-Today’s version of Money’s gender identity has limitless options: fluid throughout life, a normal variant, oppressed by society
-decades of lecture that our understanding of gender is evolving
-current outbreak of youth who believe they can defy biology
-infiltrated all institutions: medicine, mental health, ex ed, education, and government
-children uncomfortable with their sex had various treatments including family therapy
Before 2000’s
-professional organizations accepted just 2 sexes, identity fixed by age 3, and distress over one’s sex called for psychological evaluation
-textbooks both stated male and female
***Reminder that the 1st gender experiment failed
After 2000’s
-new concepts appeared in gender and feminist studies
-ideas like gender variance or gender binary is oppressive
-introduction of books “My Gender Workbook: how to become a real man, a real woman, the real you, or something else entirely” by Kate Bornstein
-the book is an activist tract recruiting kids
-the book tries to dismantle the gender system
-identifying as a boy or girl is neither natural or essential
-the full-blown modern version of gender theory, non-binary, fluid, oppressive
-kids being instructed it’s normal to feel they’re the opposite
-led to activist literature: radical gender beliefs “these are the facts, the binary is false and oppressive
2002:
-students were instructed that “being transgender is as normal as being alive” by Advocates for Youth is the flagship sex ed organization
-education being infiltrated by organizations like Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States (SIECUS) and Planned Parenthood
2010:
-planned parenthood and SIECUS were at the forefront of gender indoctrination
2019:
-SIECUS didn’t hide their ambitions “sex ed for social change”
-claim gender variant if all about inclusivity and acceptance
-Orwellian manipulation of language influences how we think
-activists use “gender” and “sex” interchangeably
-it is deliberate weaponizing of language
-gender, we are told, subjective, fluid, on a spectrum, multidimensional
**they want sex to be synonymous with gender, so they can destroy it
Transgenderism Conferences:
-genderists argue sex is endlessly complex and nuanced
-”I am a male with a vagina” and I should be able to talk about it
-culture and language are evolving
-society restricts with the gender binary
-gender is fluid
-exploring options is normal
“My gender is a sliding scale. It’s the rejection of male and female that I find attractive.”
Political Movement:
-AACAP and UCLA and American College Health Association
-accepted “transsexualism is a variation of being alive, not a disorder”
-students must be validated
-students need to lead us
-2005: physicians only presented gender affirming care
-2006: American Psychological Association (APA) recommended reading “My Workbook”
And promoted “blending or alternate genders”
-2008: University of Massachusetts published “What Does Transphobia Look Like?” Only one answer “assuming everyone is male or female”
Mighty Social Movement:
-infecting medical billing
-creating specific conditions to the billing codes
-in 1980 is was known as gender identity disorder
-2006, APA wanted to disorder removed
-in 2008, is was still known as gender identity disorder
-debate was driven by politics
-doctors felt compassion toward transgender identifying individuals and believed in social change
-contagion of social change
***”it is difficult to find reconciling language that removes the stigma of having a mental disorder diagnosis while maintaining access to medical care”
-Change: transsexualism was nothing more than a normal variant of gender identity, that its classification as a mental disorder contributed to stigma
***biological sex is unethical
***not a disorder but a human right
Violation of Human Rights
-2010, World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH)
-wrong to believe that gender confusion is a disorder, it violates human rights
-labeling gender variance as a disorder or mental illness is not appropriate
-labeling undermines human rights
-undermines legitimacy of identity and sustains social stigma
-2012, WPATH attempted to change gender identity and expression to become congruent with biological sex is ineffective and “unethical”
-2013, American Psychological Association drafted a diagnosis manual in a “secret and closed process”
-normalization of gender distress
***goodbye gender identity disorder, hello gender dysphoria
Human Rights Campaign:
-2015, they won the case that redefined marriage
-2014, HRC barely mentioned the term transgender
-today, trans and transgender is used 100 times in 33 pages of its annual report
The Federal Government Game:
-Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) tells us “gender identity is an inborn self-perception: it can be male, female, both, or neither
-International Classification of Disease (ICD) lists diagnosis and includes codes for health records and billing
-2022, gender dysphoria was removed; in its place is gender congruence
-this change was not based in evidence but on activists agenda
-rejecting your biology is a healthy and ordinary process like giving birth
****Admiral Levine portrayed as adult-onset gender dysphoria
****introduced late/adolescent onset in teens and young adults
***gender incongruence is considered a sexual health condition in the same category as pregnancy
-World Health Organization (WHO) removed “gender identity disorder” from its global manual of diagnosis altogether
-WHO “assigning gender identity on the basis of genitalia makes about as much sense as assigning it on the basis of height”
-belief in Money’s theory that all are born “gender neutral”
Biology vs. Inner Sense
-institution have fell to gender tyranny
-scientists explored a new field of medicine: the biology of sex
-inborn: sex is established at conception, unchanging, sex is permanent, binary, sex is male or female, there is no spectrum
-Hard Science: explores the natural world, ex. Biology, chemistry, physics
-Hard Science: is based on the scientific method which has experiments have controlled variables, objective measurements, critical analysis, and verification
-Hard Science is a straightforward method
-Soft Science: explores intangibles, ex. Behaviors, thoughts, and emotions like psychology, sociology, anthropology
-Soft Science: the Y chromosome is a genetic wasteland
-Soft Science: social transitioning promoted as facts not theories
-gender ideologues want society to believe your daughter can take testosterone and viola she’s your son
