“And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light” (Ephesian 5:11-13).
So many issues go way beyond me, but that doesn’t excuse me from not participating in exposing wrong policies or procedures especially when it comes to children and teens. These are the most vulnerable to the sphere of influence. The true reputation and character of a person will always be revealed by their own words and actions. It is too easy to point and attack the person directly, but it is so much more effective to allow the person to expose themselves. Just sharing their behaviors will reach more people than name calling for getting into a circular never ending argument.
Here is an example of what happened in Nevada and the reason I try to get people involved in the politics of your state. It truly matters:
2025-policies and procedures need to be looked at when legislation puts out two bills where one wants parents and the community silenced by threatening them with a Class E Felony if they object to books lining the shelves of our public schools or disagree with the curriculum students are being exposed to. Then on the other bill would give school librarians immunity from civil and criminal liability from what is on the library shelves and activities happening in those libraries. What is so secret that you want to ensure no one can see what is happening in those libraries and what is so bad that immunity is called for in defense of those responsible for what is happening in those libraries. That is why I fight so hard to get an open-source county library system so all can see why these extremes were needed on a state level. I attend school board meetings as I believe our education system needs revamping.
Here is my statement I read to my local school board. Screaming, yelling, and accusing is not effective. I made my statement personal because it is. We need to stay rational and logical. It allows the board to process the information instead of zoning out. If you are not good at speaking, then send your representatives an email or post a comment so it goes into public record. Just be involved in whatever aspect you are impassioned to speak out for or against.
June 26, 2025 Statement to the School Board:
I can stand here and explicitly describe how my stepfather had me sit on his hand with no underwear on. Or, I can explicitly describe how my virginity was taken at the age of 8. Or I can write these explicit sexual experiences in a book. Then it can be found on the shelves of our public school libraries. I could, but I do not see the educational value of any books that contain sexually explicit experiences. These books are promoted as healthy, therapeutic, and necessary for the benefit of diversity. Librarians, teachers, and counselors are not qualified mental health professionals, but we are deciding through the lens of adults that a young mind needs to read through the sexual experiences of rape, incest, abuse, experimentation, and how to books to promote a sense of healing and understanding of one’s self. These books are never looked at as how it could negatively trigger a young mind. These books negatively trigger me. We must look at the other side of the coin to consider that these sexually explicit books might be harmful to the mental health of our students. CCSD has no data to prove sexually explicit books improve the lives of our students in an academic environment.
The whirlwind of crazy is real. The truth about so much in our country is being exposed. Hard to keep up. Prayers for families trying to figure this all out and searching for who to trust for the education of their children.
