I hit 10,000 steps New Year’s eve (morning) and New Year’s morning. All I can say is tears did flow. If any of you have read my story you know I am 1 month shy of the virus, shingles, that hit like a train disrupting my health and daily life. As I finished today, I thought, Wow, I could make videos on how I went from 10 steps back to 10,000 steps which looking back would have been better and much more effective. Oh, well! Maybe my movie star youtube calling was not meant to be LOL! But what a journey this has been!

Look, I have no clue if I wake tomorrow and all my nerve pain will be gone or if it will be with me the rest of my life. I just know that pushing through it day by day is the one step we can all take no matter what life circumstances throws at us. It is not that I had no down moments or I never dropped down into the darkness of self-pity. I can honestly say, I stayed human through it all, but today I just felt energized, refreshed, and optimistic. I felt the breeze move through me as I watched the tree’s limbs sway above me.

As I looked down my focus was on the thickness of the tree’s roots and thought about that parable about the seeds and how these trees started small, but took root, and grew into the beauties I pass by each day. I know the parable is that God’s word is the seed and the soil is our willingness to allow it to take root and grow.

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose trust is the Lord. For he will be like a tree planted by the water, That extends its roots by a stream, And will not fear when the heat comes; But its leaves will be green, And it will not be anxious in a year of drought, Nor cease to yield fruit” (Jeremiah 17:7-8)

I know you may be feeling less blessed today and if that is you know that I am praying for you and that God knows how hard this moment is and when you look back how you will respond to how far you have come. Just takes that step toward Jesus who loved you so much he died for us all. Feel renewed today because we know:

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, And saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18)

“I have set the Lord Continually before me; Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken” (Psalm 16:8)

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you” (Isaiah 43:2)

Prayers for a revival in America and in every community and every family. May my words strengthen you as this new year is upon us. Know whatever you are going through you are not alone.
