Facebook Posted Thoughts: Time to Carry On!

I watched a video where a man asked his neighbors to walk his dog, but it was a blanket request, so the funny part is he had cameras so he could see that one right after another a neighbor came to walk his dog. After the 5th walker came in, the dog didn’t even wag his tail. He just laid there and the tiniest woman picked up the dog bigger than her whole frame and dragged the dog out for another walk. When the owner came home the dog didn’t even greet him but just picked up his nose in the direction of his voice. Hilarious!!

Do you ever feel like this dog? At the end of the day, one right after another, a person or situation has just sucked all the enjoyment out of your life? Expectations piling up so high that no normal person could reach successfully without disappointing at least one person or commitment.

Or, I still chuckle at that tiny woman lifting the dead weight of the dog with all her might determined to show her neighborly kindness. I think about how many times I have dragged dead weight around with the expectation of appreciation and accolades to be let down as my own need for recognition goes unanswered.

Then after all is said and done, I like the dog giving a little nod, but in my mind I am screaming “enough,” or ”no to you and you and you.” I do it to myself so not sure why I am irritated at others for asking me to fulfill one more request. I see myself dead tired laying on the floor like that dog not even wanting to get up for anything or anyone out of pure exhaustion.

So what does one do with an unwilling attitude? Step back, Step down, Sit this one out, Lay down a different foundation, or just Unplug. I think that all these actions should be considered. When we are on overload it is difficult to really clear out the cobwebs blurring our decision making process. The thing is that when I am feeling reluctant to participate in something I have to ask myself why? Am I making a sound objective decision or allowing myself to be swept away by my emotions and feelings of my own selfish ambitions.

I’d rather wade through the muck and the mire and refocus my energy on how I contribute to making a way for more souls to enter heaven.

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others” (Philippians 2: 1-8).
“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7).

“Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).

So, you will see some changes in how I present myself to others, what I participate in, and how I disseminate information on concerning topics. Make sure you check out my blog and my website. I will be reflecting on my journey as a speech/debate club coach. The indoctrination and sexualizing of our kids matters. Keep current on the politics happening in your state. Hope you all can keep up with me or I may have to be that person who picks you up and drags you out for that walk. (so funny)

Prayers to those who are overwhelmed by life. Prayers to those feel left out or rejected even in doing so much work. Prayers for those feeling underappreciated. Know that the God who loves you sees all you do everyday. In the workshop I went to I really liked this statement:

-Focus: If I am good with you Jesus then I am good (what Jesus thinks of you overrides everything else).

This song is so appropriate for this post because Sam Wesley’s song “Carry On” is like a moving forward anthem. No time to look back because God’s not done with you yet!

Stand on His promises, trust in His faithfulness
God's not done with you yet
Just know with every step
He's with you to the end
God's not done with you yet
So carry on, oh-oh carry on (uh-oh-oh, uh-oh-oh)
Pick yourself up from the dust
Because you're not done
No, you're not done
