The main purpose of the Books of the Pentateuch The Pentateuch is the first 5 books of the Bible. It is referred to as the Book of Moses or the Book of Law. It begins with Genesis and the main purpose is to reveal his promise that is reflected in his covenant with his people of Israel to the salvation of the whole world. The 2nd book is Exodus and the purpose is to show his redeeming spirit toward his people by fulfilling his covenant when the Israelites were released from Egypt and establishes the tabernacle with his people. The 3rd book is Leviticus which reveals his purpose of holiness upon his people. It is the book of laws that reveals who God is and communicates his relationship with his people. The 4th book of Numbers is the testing and provision book because as the nation of Israel wandered in the wilderness for forty years God still provided for them physically and spiritually.
