I am an employee of CCSD and was working at Virtual High School when Essington Wade was given the position of principal. For many of us we were a bit reluctant with the news of a new principal at Virtual High School (VHS). We knew the dedication and challenges it takes for both staff and students to be successful.

My position as MIS/DP Technology Specialist was a bit different as I dealt with both staff and students directly to assist with the technology needs they had.

When Essington arrived at VHS he seemed to be friendly and wanted to know everything about the school and systems. In just a short time I realized he came in with an agenda and that was to get to know everything that was current and change it.

In short of writing my own book, I will say that Essington removed good teachers and support staff just because they knew too much or did not agree with him. Remember he had his agenda, probably because his was disgruntled with the fact of previous positions he did not get and certain people who held higher positions.

In my final days at VHS I had a conversation with Essington and told him my frustrations with his decisions. I was not comfortable that the systems which were changed without testing and now the students were spending 5+ hours on final exams. In my opinion he did not seem to care about the students or the staff who were attempting to comfort frantic students and parents.

A short time later I was given 5 days off with no pay and assigned duties as receptionist. Of course Essington decided to rename the position as “Intake-Specialist”. I’ve got to say I was one of the highest paid receptionist in the District.

Later I was given the notice that my position was not needed at VHS and I was to be surplused. Fortunately for me this was the best thing. I was moved to another department and today I am enjoying my time with good people and NO Essington Wade.
