A Reminder That Dreams Don’t Fade
I read a Japanese Proverb today that went “fall seven times, stand up eight.” It is about time that I take our website motto myself. I dream of being a popular writer, but I have been basking in my sorrowful pity-party for far too long now. I have the love, strength, and am encircled by such a supportive husband; so that is the reason I am going to chronicle my journey back to regain my passion for writing. I am going to dust off my rough draft and get back to editing. My goal is to complete my manuscript and turn it into an audio book.
Let’s begin with why I wrote “In the Eye of Prayer.” I was in 3rd grade when my mom remarried and we moved to a small town in Texas. My stepfather was an abusive alcoholic. We were trapped in a very evil town. As I got older, I thought I had dreamed it all; but I learned that it was all true. So, I am going to share my story.
Here is a sample of “In the Eye of Prayer.” Let me introduce you to Helen:
All of ninety pounds and eighty-six years old, Helen was a fire-cracker of a woman. She lost two husbands in two wars. She raised six kids on her own as a nurse where she cared for terminally ill patients. Losing little ones was difficult, but she could not leave them or the parents, so she prayed a lot. She spent many a nights asking God for answers and explaining to him that she did not understand why little ones had to suffer?
Many times Helen had no idea who she is praying for, but her gift had brought her to the point of almost feeling the emotional turmoil of the person she had been praying for. It was her gift and she embraced it with a passion daily. There was nothing that would come between her, prayer, and the one she was praying for.
Next time you can meet my little LillY.
