As packages arrive that include all the equipment to create mouth watering sushi, it was hard to control my giddiness. After much research and price comparing, we decided on the following.

We shopped on a budget. We have eaten out for sushi and it can get pretty expensive, so we didn’t want to spend more than $200.00 which would include a rice cooker.

We found a great value in buying a knife sharpener rather than a whole set of knives. Worked wonders and is easy to use. It sharpens scissors too. Check out the Wosthuf 2 stage knife sharpener
There were so many different kids, so we considered our options and as I look at my counter, I am pleased with the options we now have.
The Sushi Magic Sushi Making Kit has two parts: option of making a variety of Sushi rolls and/or Nigiri Sushi mold.
The Sushi Making Set VI is packed with good stuff like bamboo mat, rice bowl, chopsticks, and Japanese style plates. Not just great for making perfectly vinegared rice, but very pretty to look at on our dinner table.I’m too impatient to cut vegetables with such perfect cuts, so I chose a chopper and love it already. Check out Progressive International GPC-4000 Fruit and Vegetable Chopper.
I mentioned this book in last post, but I am learning much more than just how to make Sushi. It packs a lot of information in easy to follow steps, so check it out again: Sushi for Dummies.
Still on the hunt for a rice cooker since prices run from $15-$500.  My book recommends a 10-cup rice cooker and may spend between $50-$70, so I may go over my budget.
Another recommendation is that to always have a cutting board made of wood. Your knife will stay sharper longer with a wooden cutting board.
I have learned how to make our own Rice Vinegar Dressing:
5-6 cups Cooked Rice
1/4 cup Rice Vinegar
1 Tablespoon Sugar
1 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
Sounds yummy, so off to complete research on rice cooker. Then off to different stores to see where the best place to buy fresh fish and Japanese Rice.
