During the last week and over an hour this morning I have been reading the posts on several sites regarding iPhone vs Android. First I wish people would learn to agree to disagree, it is sad to read many posts where people are name calling and acting childish. There are many good posts with informative opinions, yes, posts are opinions of the person writing.

Purchasing a phone is based on the needs of the individual buying it. Like buying a vehicle, I have had several vehicles during my life and all of them have had pros and cons. I had a truck for a period of time and loved the fact that when needed I could purchase a big item and put in the back of the truck and take it home. Today I own a small economic vehicle which gets great gas milage. The truck was nice but couldn’t drive far without passing up a gas station. Does the fact that the car can’t carry as much as the truck make me want to get rid of it? No, I work around the issue. Would owning a convertible be nice, of course it would, but is it really something I need, NO.

Same thing with phones, we purchase them based on the needs that we as individuals have. If my phone doesn’t look or have the same options as yours, doesn’t make it a bad phone. If the phone suits my needs, then I can consider it to be the best phone for me. I have read too many posts from people who hate just because someone else doesn’t agree with them. Just because you have a particular phone and provider that you like doesn’t make anyone else an idiot, because they don’t agree with you.

I have had several phones throughout the last few years, for both personal and business use. I have used the original iPhone, Blackberry’s and now an Android phone. Each phone has it’s pros and cons. There was a period of time I thought the blackberry was a great phone but now not so much. I did like the iPhone but decided to switch to the Android phone.

My problem with the original Motorola Droid is that it seems to be a forgotten phone and it’s not even 2 years old. When I originally got the phone I did enjoy the OS and the abilities it provided. Today this phone is slower than when I originally got it and with upgrades it seems to lock up and freeze more often. I do like the Android OS, but rooting, upgrades and some bad code can make the experience one that is not enjoyable.

I have decided to get the iPhone 4, and before I start getting all the hate mail, I want everyone to know this is my decision not yours. I feel this phone will provide me with the needs that I have for a phone. I have recently transitioned over to a macbook and I love it. Some people will not agree with me but I believe that Apple has great products. The iPhone may not have the bells and whistles that some feel is a major requirement they need in a phone, but like my car I can work around those issues.

Cell phone providers have also had their share of comments on many sites. Choosing a provider is a personal choice for each individual based on their needs. I had thought about changing providers but after much research I have decided to stay with the provider I have. If I could create my own system with all the things I like from all the providers that would be great, but I can’t so I have to choose.

Choosing a phone and/or carrier is a personal choice. Can we stop with the hate of others just because they have a different opinion than you do!
