Black Friday Craziness
After reading the article Thefts, stampedes make Black Friday blue for some – CNN.com, I am glad I decided to not partake in this ritual. What is it about shopping on these days that brings out the worst in people. I am not much of a shopper on any other day of the year so why put myself in this craziness on Black Friday. I also question the mentality of people who can not afford these items but feel 10% price reduction fits their budgets. It is sad that during this time when we should be thankful for what we have, the commercialism takes over and we want more.
I know the stores want to get shoppers in the doors, but when it creates chaos for staff and shoppers, I believe it is just wrong. The stores decide to open doors at midnight or early hours to get people in. Help me understand this, employees are tired, shoppers are tired and then we put them together during early hours so they can become ugly and hostile just for a good deal. Who is really making out in these situations? Of course the business profits are the main goal here.
In todays society I would think the stores would realize that if they advertise only 6 special sale items, they would understand how ugly it could turn out. Seems everyone feels they deserve the best deals, and reading the CNN article they also show how rude they can be to get the deal.
It would be nice if we deemed people and the reason for this season more important than the good deals we purchased.
