Smelling marijuana smoke coming from the vehicle Paris Hilton was in, a motorcycle officer pulled them over on the Las Vegas strip. Hilton was arrested on suspicion of felony cocaine possession, while Waits, 34, was arrested on misdemeanor suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Both were booked into the Clark County jail, where Martin said Hilton was released without bail about 2:45 a.m. Saturday. Waits’ lawyer, Richard Schonfeld, said Waits posted $2,000 bail and was expected to be released Saturday.

Paris claims the purse was not hers, but she was the only female in the vehicle.  Why did Hilton get released about 3 hours later with no bail for a suspicion of felony cocaine possession, but Waits had to post $2,000 for a misdemeanor suspicion of DUI?

I wonder if this would have been any other tourist and not a celebrity would they have been released without bail.  Do we have double standards?
